This painting was inspired by a picture I took of the Mossy Forest in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia when we went there on a family trip a few years ago.  The beautiful blues and emerald green shades of the forest and the bright blue skies with the thick white clouds resting on the mountain tops was a beautiful sight to behold..

I enjoy oil painting and the bright red and green colors of the apples and grapes inspired me to do a still life painting. 

I also wanted to capture the effect of the light at the bottom of the wine glass and the translucent color of the grapes. I enjoyed painting it and was happy with the end result.

Painting done on a 12 x 12 inch canvas board

I got the inspiration for this painting on one of the days when I was about to start my cooking and going to peel and cut some onions, garlic and green chilies. The bright colors and textures felt like a perfect subject matter for a still life painting. So I went ahead and took some pictures arranging the onions and garlic and green chilies in various ways until I was happy with the composition.

I thought this would be easy to paint, but I found the onions a bit challenging, especially the different layers of the onions... But I liked how it turned out in the end.
